Week of September 26th - OH Trial practice!!! (and other info)

HEY MDBC! Hope you're all getting the hang of the new in-person school year :))

We've got some news for you! First off, we'd like to remind everyone that this week is our first week of drylands and pool practices; if you haven't signed up already, make sure to head over to our sign-ups on the website/Linktree and do so now!! We're so excited to finally start working out with everyone together and get gainz 💪😤

And now for some more fun stuff! The following is only relevant to new members (those who haven’t paddled with MDBC before during a competitive season; returning members should check Discord)

We know you’ve all been really excited about getting to go down to OH to experience racing in an actual dragon boat, and so we’re happy to let you know that we’ll be having our OH trial practice this Saturday (October 1st, 11:00 AM – 5:30 PM)!!! Not only will you get to learn how to paddle and find out how much fun it is to be out on the water, you’ll also get a chance to meet the rest of the club as well as our on-water coach Ed 😊

If you’d like to join us for Saturday, please fill out this form! The waiver in the form is specific to this trial practice, so please click here to download said waiver; it's the second waiver on the page. There are 40 spots available, on a first-come-first-serve basis (so just a note: filling out the form unfortunately does not guarantee you a spot for this trial practice). We’ll be sending the first 40 people a confirmation email by Thursday evening (check your spam as well!), and if you receive that email, we ask that you:

(1) Please e-transfer macdboat@gmail.com the $25 fee for the practice

(2) Reply to the email no later than Friday at 12PM noon to secure your spot!

(I’ll be reminding you to do those two things when we email you as well, so don’t stress!)

Members who are joining Saturday will be meeting at The Oval Field no later than 11:00 AM, and we’ll be bussing together to the OH site and back. Please bring the following with you:

  • Water bottle, snacks, sunscreen

  • Towel, change of clothes

  • Flip flops

  • Mask (optional, recommended)

  • Appropriate clothing (something you don’t mind getting wet, and check the weather ahead of time; you might want to pack an extra sweater to wear on the boat!)

Unfortunately, due to the trial taking place at 11:00 AM, we will not be holding drylands this Saturday. If you already signed up for this session, we ask that you try your best to reschedule to a different dryland timeslot for this week. If you’re unable to do so, please contact us directly by Wednesday night and we’ll let you know where to go from there!

If you have any questions whatsoever, please don’t hesitate to contact us! We’re so hyped to be able to paddle all together this Saturday, and we really hope this will give you a small glimpse of what's to come :)) LET IT RUN
