Week of September 19th - First drylands + pool practices!!

HEY MDBC :)

It was great seeing everyone at the general meeting on Monday (and virtually on Tuesday)! In case you weren't able to make it, but still want to know how to sign up and join, don't be afraid to contact us for more info on our socials.

On that note, as we mentioned in the meeting, we’ll be having our first drylands and pool practices starting next week (Sept. 26th onwards)!!! (SO EXCITED WOOO) In case you needed a quick refresher, drylands are our off-season team training where we build the strength and stamina needed for dragon boat. Pool practices, on the other hand, are where we learn and develop fundamental paddling technique.

In order to join us for either, you’ll have to do the following:

1. Sign up through Eventbrite (linked here) for the day and time slot you choose. (We do have a set limit of how many people can sign up for each session—30 spots for each dryland, and 16 for each pool practice—so make sure to check Eventbrite out as soon as you can to get the day you’d like!) Eventbrites will be posted weekly on the site, most likely on Saturday evenings/Sunday mornings (and I’ll be sending announcements here and on Discord for each one so you know when and where to sign up!)

2. Email your signed waiver to macdboat@gmail.com OR bring a paper copy to your first dryland/pool practice. This is mandatory for you to take part, so please don’t forget (or do it right now while it’s fresh in your mind LMAO)

3. Find out what you’ll need to bring for either drylands or pool practices!

Optional: your first dryland + pool practice are free!! However, I’m just going to remind you that after your first ones, you do need to pay the general fee of $20, which covers all your drylands/pool practices for the rest of the year. For more info on the fees, click here.

Try and make it out for at least one dryland and one pool practice each week, because attendance does make a pretty big difference in roster decisions later in the year.

Last but not least, I just wanted to give a quick reminder that if you ever have to cancel, you must do so at least 12 hours before the dryland/practice you’ve signed up for AND contact an exec so we know. Eventbrite is set to close 12 hours before each practice, so if you’re not able to tell us before then and cancel in time, it does unfortunately mean that you’ll lose an attendance point.

That’s all for now! Again, if you have any questions whatsoever, don’t be afraid to contact us. Let it run!
