Week of Nov 1 - MDBC Updates

HELLO MDBC! Here are this week’s announcements:

1) 🌊 Pool Practices start tomorrow!!  We know many of you have been asking... and we have heard. Starting TOMORROW we are now having routine pool paddling practices! We will be hosting 5 sessions a week (unless otherwise stated) and it will be held in the IWC pool. The sign-up is posted under the “Schedules and Sign-ups” tab as well as our Linktree. Sign up soon as there are limited spots. We encourage everyone to come out as it is a great opportunity to learn paddling technique and receive one-to-one feedback from executives. These practices are mandatory for those considering applying to our competitive roster as well! *Additionally, if you have already attended 2+ dryland/pool sessions, and you have not paid the $15 team fee, please do so before arrival at the scheduled dryland. This is a one-time $15 fee to join the Mac Dragon Boat Club as a general member. Follow the instructions on the Eventbrite page for more information.

2) 👟 Fit Tests start this week! It starts this week during drylands, so be sure to attend! This is mandatory for all MDBC members regardless if you are interested in the competitive team or not)! This week, we are doing plank and push-ups at the start of the session, ending with our regular dryland workout. Looking at next week, we move onto the strength portion of the test. These will take place in the Pulse at regularly scheduled dryland times and at additional times throughout the week. These slots are limited and are mandatory only for members considering the competitive team. We encourage all to take part in the strength portion to set benchmarks and goals for the year! The criteria and timeline for strength tests is below:

  • Week of Nov 1: Plank and pushups (during drylands)

  • Week of Nov 8: Pull-ups, bench press,  pendlay row and rowing erg (during a slot at DBAC)

  • Nov 19-21: Paddle Erg (during a slot at DBAC)

Be sure to review the standards for each on the website. We have created FIT TEST FORM VIDEOS which can be found at the "Fit Test" tab at the top.
