MDBC Events & Checklist (Week of Jan 31)

Important events for Winter 2022 - Linktree

Note: If you have not yet, join our Discord!!! Here, you will receive the most updated information, including last-minute announcements, and get the fastest response from execs.

ROSTER/TEAM APPLICATIONS (READ THIS SECTION IN FULL)

Listed below are all the MANDATORY events for all those interested in applying for the team:


  • MDBC General Assembly 2022 (Online)!

    • When: Sat, Feb 5 @ 7-8pm

    • Where: Zoom (online)

    • We will review the team application and on-water logistics in this meeting. This is mandatory for all those interested in applying for the team

    • Please reach out and provide a valid reason if you are unable to attend this meeting. We will try our best to arrange an accommodation for you


  • Fit Test – Part 1 (DBAC)

    • When: Sat, Feb 5 – Fri, Feb 11 (45 min slots)

    • Sign up on Eventbrite!

      • Sat & Sun → 9:00am-9:45am

      • Sat & Sun → 9:45am-10:30am

      • Tues to Fri → 6:30am-7:15am

      • Tues to Fri → 7:15am-8:00am

    • Where: meet inside Sport Hall

    • This component will consist of:

      • Pushups (AMRAP, 60 bmp)

      • Plank (max 8 min)

      • Row erg (max distance in 8 min)

    • As this is a busy time of year - make-up sessions are NOT guaranteed. If you cannot make the scheduled times and do not notify us in advance, this will impact your ability to make the roster and delay the posting of the final fit test results. Please speak with one of the executives if you have any questions or concerns.


  • Fit Test – Part 2 (DBAC)

    • PLEASE REMEMBER TO WEIGH YOURSELF BEFORE MEETING US

    • When: Sat, Feb 12 – Fri, Feb 18 (45 min slots)

    • The slots indicated below are either Male or Female (not both)! Please refer to the respective Eventbrite to see the times available for M/F slots

    • Sign-ups - Male

    • Sign-ups - Female

      • Sat & Sun → 9:00am-9:45am

      • Sat & Sun → 9:45am-10:30am

      • Mon, Tues, Thurs → 6:30am-7:15am

      • Mon, Tues, Thurs → 7:15am-8:00am

      • Wed → 3:00pm-3:45pm

      • Wed → 3:45pm-4:30pm

    • Where: meet inside Sport Hall and show us a picture of your weight

    • This component will consist of:

      • Pull-ups (AMRAP)

      • Bench press (5 rep max)

      • Pendlay row (5 rep max)

      • Paddle erg (max distance in 2 min – TBD if fixed and available)

    • As this is a busy time of year - make-up sessions are NOT guaranteed. If you cannot make the scheduled times and do not notify us in advance, this will impact your ability to make the roster and delay the posting of the final fit test results. Please speak with one of the executives if you have any questions or concerns.


  • Team Applications

    • Found on our linktree after the general assembly!

    • To be considered for the roster you MUST complete this application. Please let us know if you have any questions.

    • Hard deadline: Fri, Feb 18, 2022 @11:59PM


Ongoing Events

MDBC events to keep on your radar! Note: you should still be attending drylands and pool practices as they play a role in foster decisions and improving your fitness/skill

  • Drylands – ONLY Feb 8-11

    • In-Person (DBAC – Sports Hall)

      • Tuesday @ 6:30am

      • Wednesday @ 6:30am

      • Thursday @ 6:30am

      • Friday @ 6:30am

    • Virtual (Zoom – link available on linktree)

      • Tuesday 7pm-8:30pm

      • Saturday 10:30am-12pm

    • Dryland practices will NOT be running after Feb 11th. Fitness testing and pool will be running up until reading week.


  • Pool starts week of Feb 7th

    • Times TBD

    • Where: enter through IWC change rooms

    • Sign-ups will be available on linktree

    • You should be attending at least 1 practice per week to practice your paddling technique. As we are nearing the on-water season, each practice will be especially critical for you to receive feedback and improve your form

  • MANDATORY Quotas (synchronous)

    • Every part of your training matters whether it’s during MDBC practices or outside. You should be striving to make continuous improvement from now to the on-water season.

    • Each member plays a vital role in the boat and your completion of quotas will demonstrate your true dedication to the sport and team.

Special Events

Some fun and exciting things we have planned for you!!!

  • MDBC x WDBC Swoleman Challenge Ceremony!

    • Join our awards ceremony and this Sunday, Feb 6!!! This will be a chance to meet, congratulate, and also face our competitors once more in a final challenge – the Spicy Noodle Challenge! We promise it will be a fun time :)

    • When: Sun, Feb 6th @ 8:30pm

    • Where: Zoom (find the link in our linktree!)

  • MDBC T-Shirt Distribution!

    • When: Thurs, Feb 10th

    • Where: DBAC Rejuvenate/Booster Juice (area above the

      • Directions – Enter DBAC front entrance and go to the left (up the ramp). Go to the very end towards the football stadium. You will find MDBC execs at the tables there!

    • Come collect your shirts if you’ve preordered them in the Fall 2021 semester!

    • EXTRA T-SHIRTS are on sale!!! Limited sizes are available for $23.00 and will be first-come, first-served. Payment by e-transfer (macdboat@gmail.com) and cash are both available

  • Krispy Kreme Fundraiser!

    • When: Wed, Mar 2nd!

    • Where: TBD

    • Keep your eyes peeled and your calendars booked! We will be selling some doughnuts on this day to fundraise for the club. Come say hello and buy a box or a single Krispy Kreme! Pre-order options will also be available 😊
